A05 Traite-moi bien!

How much do we really know about our daily water consumption and how this water is treated? Lausanne’s water-supply system functions like a closed loop: the water is pumped directly from the lake, treated and distributed, then treated again before being discharged back into the lake.

Traite-moi bien! uses a series of toi let bowls to represent the stages of the water treatment cycle. lt also exposes some of the absurdities in our relationship with this vital resource-like the fact that we waste six liters of perfectly clean drinking water with every flush. Ground markings and measuring beakers allow visitors to see the state of the water as it passes through the first eight toilet bowls, which are filled with waste. The next eight bowls demonstrate different water treatment pro cesses, including three examples of plant-based methods, while the last bowl represents the end of the cycle.
