C02 Natures contre-cultures

Natures contre-cultures is a collaborative research garden exploring themes of landscape, the body, ecology, sensuality, community and emotion through the lens of queer eco(myth)ology. The project connects the two adjoining spaces—the beach and the Vidy-Lausanne Theater—drawing inspiration from the interplay between bare, wet bodies exposed to the sun and the eye as the seasons change.

The garden aims to cultivate new spaces of intimacy within a meadow. Stories of love, encounters, (counter-) culture and (counter-)nature are harvested and embodied by striking flower beds that gradually transform the garden. These flowers, these witnesses, are planted on several occasions throughout the Lausanne Jardins festival by groups of people who share the same passions, interests and concerns.

The garden, an archive of love and emotions, also includes a landscaped area where encounters take place throughout the summer, building on the power of the imagination to shape new, more fluid relationships between bodies, nature, culture, humans, non-humans and landscapes.
